Propack has announced its partnership with climate positive organisation, Ecologi, joining its mission to reduce 50 per cent of global CO2 emissions by 2040 and responsibly plant billions of trees every year.

The partnership will see Propack funding a range of carbon offsetting projects to improve the company’s climate positivity, including tree planting schemes in Kenya, solar power projects in Vietnam and rainforest conservation in Brazil, to name a few.

Propack is a leading provider of technology-led print and direct mail solutions, producing in excess of 25 million mail packs per year from its 30,000 square foot site in Huddersfield. Propack works with a range of B2B and B2C clients, including Moonpig, JD Sports and TUI.

Managing director of Propack, Jason Clough, said: “We have always had a commitment to the climate and our partnership with Ecologi solidifies that commitment, allowing us to have a greater global impact.

“As a team, we strive to have a positive influence on the environment and are taking steps to ensure that our processes, brands, products and site are climate positive and promote sound ethics and responsible attitudes within our clients and suppliers.

“We’re already getting involved with some incredible projects through our partnership and it’s been fantastic to see the impact that our contributions are having.”

Propack established an in-house postage brand, Ethical Mail®, in 2017 which this year produced its 50 millionth piece. Since launching five years ago, the pioneering postage brand has attracted an extensive range of clients looking to align themselves with ethical credentials and has created over 14,000 square metres of new native woodland in the UK – the equivalent of 70 tennis courts – to remove 543,150kg of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Over the last few years, Propack made its biggest ever investment into the Huddersfield site, spending over £2.7m into new technology and equipment to improve the firm’s sustainable outputs. This includes the purchase of three UV Coaters to replace traditional plastic laminators, and a Canon iX3200 cut sheet ink jet, the company’s biggest ever investment.

The Canon does not emit ozone and uses water-based inks which contain no hazardous disposables and contribute to better recycling, as well as providing on-demand capabilities to reduce wastage.

Josh Price, account executive at Ecologi, added: “We are delighted to be working with Propack as we expand our network of over 15,000 businesses that are committing to taking climate action.

“Our mission is a simple one, but a big one and it is thanks to firms like Propack that we can take the action to see real change.”
