Delivering Cost Savings and Improved Fundraising Performance

We partnered with Freedom from Torture to produce and fulfil their Spring Raffle campaign, successfully mailing 23,360 personalised fundraising packs designed to drive supporter engagement and maximise fundraising income.

The Challenge

The campaign required the production and fulfilment of a complex, personalised direct mail pack containing raffle tickets, donation materials, a case study insert, personalised labels and reply mechanisms. Accuracy, data integrity and cost-efficiency were critical to the success of the mailing.

The Solution

Our team managed the end-to-end production of the campaign, including variable data printing, personalised communications, sequentially numbered raffle books, automated enclosing and postal optimisation.

During the planning stage, we identified an opportunity to improve efficiency by redesigning the raffle ticket format. Rather than producing two books of 12 tickets, we recommended a single book of 24 tickets.

This change reduced print and finishing costs, eliminated manual handling during fulfilment and enabled the raffle books to be machine enclosed. Just as importantly, the revised pack specification allowed the entire mailing to qualify for the Economy postal service, delivering significant savings across the campaign.

The new format also offered supporters a simpler and more convenient way to participate, with early campaign indications suggesting that recipients were more likely to purchase all available tickets.

The Results

By combining production efficiencies with postal optimisation, Freedom from Torture achieved an estimated £8,800 saving compared with the original campaign specification.

Early campaign results also indicate that the move to a single book of 24 tickets has had a positive impact on supporter participation. Average ticket entry value increased from £18.00 in previous appeals to £19.59, representing an 8.8% uplift and suggesting that more supporters chose to purchase all available tickets.

By taking a consultative approach and reviewing the campaign specification from the outset, we were able to identify efficiencies that extended beyond print production, helping Freedom from Torture maximise the value of their fundraising investment while potentially increasing campaign income.
