Background

Charles Tyrwhitt Shirts Limited (CT Shirts) is a well-known British men’s clothing retailer, specialising in dress shirts, suits, ties, casualwear, shoes, and accessories. Established in 1986 as a mail-order company, CT Shirts has since grown into a multi-channel retailer. For several years, we’ve had the pleasure of providing print and direct mail services to CT Shirts through their appointed Print Management company

Overview

CT Shirts has long run a successful Nursery programme, sending out Welcome Letters to new customers. However, they challenged us to review and improve the production process. Previously, these letters were printed in bulk using litho printing and then personalised with name and address details via laser printing. While this was cost- effective, it didn’t allow for much personalisation, particularly in terms of offers, product suggestions, and advertised items

What we did

After conducting a thorough review, we switched to digitally printing the Welcome Letters in full colour, on demand. This change not only allows for more personalised and relevant content but also enables us to make quick updates to the artwork and copy as needed.

To boost interaction, we now include voucher cards, which are digitally printed, matt laminated, die-cut, and tipped onto the face of the letter.

We’re also developing a fully data-driven workflow solution, which will allow us to tailor each piece even further with imagery, variable copy, and promotional products based on the recipient’s purchase history.

Thanks to our print-on-demand service, CT Shirts can now operate a zero-waste programme—only printing what is needed. We’re currently producing and dispatching around 6,000 mail packs per week, both within the UK and overseas, ensuring every customer receives a personalised and environmentally friendly experience.
